Official: Federal air marshal fires gun, wounds passenger on plane in Miami

MIAMI (CNN) -- A federal air marshal Wednesday shot and wounded a passenger aboard an American Airlines plane at Miami International Airport, a federal government official told CNN's Kathleen Koch.

The marshal's action came after threatening action by the passenger, the official said. Authorities said the shooting happened on American Airlines Flight 924, which originated in Medellin, Colombia, after the plane touched down at Miami's airport.

The Federal Air Marshals Service confirmed a marshal discharged his weapon. (Posted 2:49 p.m.)

I wonder how this will rattle the administration. It'll probably give them some ammunition.
