We promote fair and honest political discussion from all sides of the ideological spectrum While my own opinions and my contributors tend toward a more progressive view, that's not always the case. I ask people to comment freely and openly to promote fair discourse.

Patriot Act Extended 5 More Weeks Thursday, February 02, 2006

Congress continues to screw around with the USA Patriot Act in order to convince us they're protecting our rights and not eroding them. Congress voted to extend the law for five more weeks. It's a sweep really. Congress gives us 5 more weeks of Patriot Act and Punxsutawney Phil give's us six more weeks of winter. It goes to show you we still can't come in from the cold.

Of course the alternative on the Patriot Act was the version they tried to pass last year. It was a nasty bugger but they've tucked some things into this one or they've tried that are none too pleasant.
