We promote fair and honest political discussion from all sides of the ideological spectrum While my own opinions and my contributors tend toward a more progressive view, that's not always the case. I ask people to comment freely and openly to promote fair discourse.

Libby Pleads Not Guilty Thursday, November 03, 2005

I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby pleaded not guilty to all five criminal counts against today including two counts of perjury, two counts of making false statements, and one count of obstruction of justice. The Washington Post filed the story today.

This is the next chapter in the CIA Leak scandal. At this stage, based on what I've read, I'd say this all goes back to Vice President Dick Cheney, Scooter's old boss. I think the whole thing started with him and on his orders. Newsweek mentioned Libby told colleagues he had reservations about leaking the information because it could complicate things with the CIA (imagine that). The very next day, he does just that. At this level, the order came from Cheney. He may have some sort of plausible deniability, but I don't think there's any other way this whole affair could've happened.
