Konservative Komic Books In Kentucky? Yep Monday, August 29, 2005

Shocking, surprising propaganda piece by ACC. ACC studios, based right here in good old Kentucky has created a conservative comic book. Apparently, Mike Mackey aspires to be a modern day propagandist for conservatism and he has tarnished the comics medium to do it.

The premise Sean Hannity, G. Gordon Liddy and Oliver North have become bio-mechanically enhanced to to fight the "Orwellian nightmare dominated by United Nations ultra-liberalism." It's the 20th anniversary of 9/11 and Ambassador Bin Laden wants to nuke NYC. Our heros (HAH) have to stop him and the liberal madness.

This guy obviously has more than just a few screws loose here. He's going to be interviewed on Liddy's talk show. Of all the attention Kentucky could get, this nut job has to be one of the voices making it out there. It's absolutely unbelievable. He truly is shaming the state with this. The site is ACCstudios.com but I won't link to it.

I looked at the link. The comic is this fantasy of three lone Republicans (Liddy et al), superheroically resisting this absurdist liberal dystopia - President Hillary, V.P. Michael Moore, collapsed economy, UN control of US daily life, etc etc.

That's the interesting thing. A comic book is per se fantasy. Anything can happen in a comic book you want - Donald Duck can talk and drive a steamboat. If you can imagine it, it can be there.

Did this group imagine, say, success in Iraq? Economic success from current government policy? Even a world where the 'conservatives' hold the White House, Congress, Senate, most state legislatures, a majority of the Supreme Court - in other words, had total control of, and responsibility for, the US government? (Oops, sorry, that's fact not fantasy.)

Nope, it was a story in which the world consists of entirely hostile and evil 'liberals', and the incredibly outnumbered (but superhuman and good) 'conservatives' are desperately defending themselves and Truth against the most massive conspiracy of evil imaginable.

This is the chosen neocon worldview. This is where 'liberal media conspiracy' comes from, where "you agree with me completely or you're the enemy" comes from. This inner image of a lone hero opposing a hostile world - even when the 'lone hero' is part of a substantial majority controlling the levers of power.

Cindy Sheehan isn't a lone woman (initially, before the rest arrived) facing off against the most powerful office of the most powerful government on Earth. She's a twenty foot tall Wonder Woman bullying a helpless and innocent good guy, with the complicity of all the Earth.
