The Feds Favor Wal Mart

A story about a recent agreement between Wal-Mart and the labor department. Essentially, it gives Wal-Mart free reign over all their behaviors, illegal or otherwise when it comes to labor violations.

Wal-Mart is becoming one of the great evils in our society. They tromped through small towns all over this nation and wiped out small business in those towns. Now, they pay substandard wages, put the lives of children in danger, offer crappy insurance to employees and probably won't hire you unless you have darn near perfect health anyway.

Wal-Mart is the largest retailer in America and the world for that matter. They've robbed us of our freedom of choice by eliminating small businesses. They've robbed us of our jobs because they force most manufacturers to go to China. The sad thing is, if you live in a small town like I do, you really don't have any place else to shop.

Now they've gotten this sweet deal with the Labor Dept? It's completely ridiculous. Are these deals extended to other companies or is only to retail companies with numbers like Wal-Mart?

"The Bush Labor Department chose to do an unprecedented favor for Wal-Mart, despite the fact it is well known for violating labor laws, including child labor laws," Rep. George Miller (D-Calif.), the lawmaker who requested an investigation, said in a statement. He also said such an arrangement could allow the nation's largest employer to cover up evidence of a violation and would discourage employees who might fear retribution from filing a complaint.
